Cybi-G · Desktop presence

CybiGhost

Prototype · Linux

A living blob on a transparent overlay above your desktop. It breathes, changes colour with its state, takes files and text dropped onto it, and answers in a speech bubble.

One exchange on the desktop: the petals open on right-click; a question typed into the chat petal; the blob turns blue while your cybi reads two notes; violet as its answer arrives.

The same exchange as it happens.

The answer: which two notes to distil into a gem first, and why — with the numbers taken from the notes themselves. The bubble shows the beginning; double-click it to open the whole conversation in Deck's Sessions facet and carry on there.

Smelting a note into a gem: green while the model distils the ore, amber the moment the gem is born — here frame-cost.md became “Static Ribbon Buffers and Shader-Driven Running Lights”.

Demo data: the notes were written for this page, the answer is the model's own output; the bubble shows it without markdown. Frames from a sandbox build on Linux; with no compositor on the test display the transparent overlay shows on black.

Features

Works today

  • Transparent, frameless, click-through overlay on Linux (a small patch of the Defold engine plus our own window operator).
  • A ring of petals on right-click: chat, feed, sleep, artifacts, memory. Which petals sit where is edited in Deck.
  • A dialogue right on the desktop: ask, and the blob turns blue while your cybi reads its notes, violet as the answer arrives in the bubble.
  • States you can read from across the room: green while a note is smelted into a gem, amber when the gem is born.
  • One shader for the blob in Ghost and in Deck: value-noise membrane, breathing, eight states.
  • Drag-and-drop of files and text onto the blob feeds your cybi.

Next — planned, not built yet

  • Windows and macOS.
  • Shape as language: the blob morphing into signs and silhouettes.
